Mental-health, addiction-treatment clinic opens in Providence

March 06-- Mar. 6--PROVIDENCE -- A new organization offering outpatient mental-health, substance-abuse and related services opened this week.

Located at 110 Elmwood Ave., the privately owned VICTA offers drug screenings, primary care and suboxone and methadone treatment for opioid users, according to a media release from the company.

"VICTA is in an excellent position to help our substance-abuse population with treatment for mental-health disorders and physical health problems," the company said.

Among the services the clinic offers, the company said, is "treatment for co-occurring disorders and ambulatory primary care services. Our mental-health professionals specialize in treating co-occurring disorders and they are medicated assisted-treatment friendly. Primary care services include general episodic care, infectious disease care such as hepatitis C, HIV, as well as pharmacotherapy for cocaine, alcohol, benzodiazepines, and nicotine dependence."
